Seems to work with OK with my personal .mac account and the .mac accounts of my friends. Try using \40 in place of the @ (e.g. general_antilles\40mac.com@aim.jablet.org). It should do the trick.

I stuck with the shipping protector for 6 months before I switched to a Boxwave anti-glare. Suffice to say, the shipping protector was very well scratched up by the end of that time. ;) I wouldn't recommend going without, though. The screen on my 770 went without a protector for about a year of heavy usage, and was pretty well scratched when I switched full-time to the N800 (though not particularly noticeable while the backlight was on).

Have one of those, too. It works really nicely. It's basically my "travel" charger. I've got an iGo with a splitter for the cellphone and the N800 in the car, and normal wall-warts for use at home. The Boxwave adaptor goes with me while traveling, or when I need a wall-wart on the go. It's a really nice system.
